Our Rookie Roundballers program is designed to teach the most basic fundamentals of the game to the games’ youngest players. Our aim is to help very young players learn to love to play the game while developing the most basic skills that will provide them with a foundation to build upon as they grow up into the sport.
The focus in Rookie Roundballers is to offer each participant an opportunity to learn to dribble, pass and, shoot the ball while learning the basics of offensive and defensive footwork. The program focuses on the following skills and concepts:
1 – Have Fun and Love to Play! 2 – Learn to Dribble with Both Hands 3 – Learn to Shoot a Lay-up 4 – Learn to Pass 5 – Learn how to Jump Stop 6 – The Basics of Team Play
The Dead Eye Shot Factory is in its fourth year being run at Hoop Group Headquarters. The program develops the fundamentals of a player’s shooting form and overall technique. The program will be led by college level drills incorporated with rapid shooting. Shots are charted and improvement is monitored.
The point guard position is the most difficult position to play on the court. Like a quarterback in football, the point guard must be aware of all the elements of the game. He must be able to initiate his team’s offense while taking care of the ball and making sure all of his teammates are aware of their responsibilities. The best point guards think pass first and can create scoring opportunities for the players around them while still being able to score themselves.
Point Guard Teaching Points:
Learn the Golden Rules of being a Point Guard
Learn how to be a floor general
Increase speed and agility through the Point Guard position
Come and learn from the BEST
Players in Grades 2-12 may attend any of the Point Guard Programs below.
Now in it’s 9th year, the Individual Youth League is one of our most popular Youth Instructional Programs. Designed for recreation to travel level players, grades 3 to 7, the Individual Youth League provides a perfect balance of skill development with competitive game play.

In the second segment, the players are divided into teams and they compete against one another in a 4-quarter game.
Each training session is run by Tiny Green and games are coached by the Hoop Group Headquarters coaching staff made up of passionate young coaches from around the Jersey Shore.
