Earl Timberlake Jr. shines at the Hoop Group Southern Jam Fest - Q&A with HG Insider
Earl Timberlake Jr. is a top notch competitor and is one of the top 2020 wing prospects in the nation. The Team Loaded VA product has helped lead his team to the 17u Elite Eight and they are in a good position to win it all on Championship Sunday. He loves the opportunity of playing against some of the best teams in the country before heading into the final stretch of the AAU season. He caught up with HG Insider.
Q: What is it like seeing teams from the different circuits all playing each other in such a competitive event?
A: “It’s great because I get to see all of my friends who play on other circuits and its cool how all these teams come together in one gym.”
Q: What was coach’s message to you guys heading into this event?
A: “We want to win and play hard defensively and offensively. We all need to be aggressive from start to finish.”
Q: What’s the biggest difference from you last year to this year?
A: “I would say my energy and I am more vocal. I also would say shooting and ball handling has gotten better.”
Q: Where do you want to be with your game heading into college?
A: “When I get to college I want to play right away and in order to do that I need to work every day and continue what I’ve been doing.”
Q: What are some of the players that you look up to at the higher levels?
A: “I really look up to Russell Westbrook because he plays hard and DeMatha alum Markelle Fultz. I watch a lot of people especially Donovan Mitchell.”
Q: What goals do you guys have heading into the rest of the AAU season?
A: “We want to pick it up because we started off slow early in the season and need to start to winning again.”
