Andre Jackson emerged onto the national radar this past AAU season with the City Rocks (N.Y.). The class of 2020 small forward has always had potential but is now having consistent results on the floor. He spoke to HG Insider on his rise this year and more.

Q: You are now on the national radar. What's it like seeing your hard work pay off this way?

A: “It’s definitely a relief in seeing the work pay off, but I’m just keeping a level head and not letting the hype get to me.”

Q: What would you consider your strengths and what are some of the things you have added to your game?

A: “Some of my strengths would be guarding the defensive side of the ball as well as getting to the rim, passing and creating shot opportunities for my teammates. Something I am working on is my three point shot. I’ve been working to add a mid-range jump shot as well as floaters and working on getting my handle better.”

Q: What do you think makes you the highly regarded prospect you are?

A: “In my opinion, what makes me the highly regarded player I am is how I get to the basket, my athletic ability, and my skills. I am good on the defensive side of the ball as well as rebounding and passing.”

Q: Your recruitment has skyrocketed. What's the latest with that?

A: “For my recruitment, I am planning on taking a few official visits I have not released the dates, but I’m thinking about schools such as Syracuse, Xavier, UConn, Stanford and maybe one or two more visits.”

Q: What motivates you and what are some of the things you are working toward?

A: “What motivates me is just trying to become the best player I can and doing anything I can to benefit any team I play on. I try to work and shape my game to hopefully get to be a top 25 ranked player.”
