NJ Tip-Off Classic Player Profile: Elijah Hutchins-Everett - The Immaculate Conception big man talks with HG Insider
The New Jersey Tip-Off Classic is set to start tonight with two high-level matchups between Blair Academy vs. Montverde CBD and Immaculate Conception and Seton Hall Prep. Immaculate Conception is back with another talented team especially with prospects like junior big man Elijah Hutchins-Everett. Hutchins-Everett has always been a special prospect, but he has taken big steps in the right direction leading up to this high school season. He talked with HG Insider on his thoughts going into this season.
Q: You are set to play a huge role this season. What excites you about this opportunity?
A: “The things that excite me about this year is that my coach wants me to be the leading scorer for my team this year. He wants me to dominate every game and help my team in every way I can. I’m excited about our schedule this season and look at every game as a battle.”
Q: What is different about your game this year from last year?
A: “The difference between this year from last year is the improvement with my jump shot, my soft touch, post-game, and ball handling.”
Q: What do you like about your team this year?
A: “This year we can push the ball a lot and we return good pieces from last year. Our chemistry has gotten better every day and we continue to play hard.”
Q: You play under a coach like Jimmy Salmon who has a lot of experience under his belt. What is it like playing under him?
A: “Playing under Jimmy Salmon is a blessing. I say that because he coached other great players for such a long time. He brings a lot of energy and emotion every game, which I appreciate it. He wants his team to be great and help us win the TOC and county championship.”
Q: What are some of the things you are out to prove this season?
A: “I’m out to prove that I’m the best player in New Jersey, win Gatorade Player of the Year, be first-team All-State and attempt to win every game this season.”
