The Hoop Group Boardwalk Showcase starts off with an elite matchup between Christian Brothers Academy & Gill St. Bernard’s. Both teams have gotten off to hot starts this high school season and will look to continue their high level of play with a win on Saturday. This is a matchup of two very talented, but also disciplined teams. This game is a perfect way to set the tone for the rest of the day at the Boardwalk Showcase.

Gill St. Bernard’s

Rutgers commit Paul Mulcahy highlights the Knights, but it doesn’t stop there for them. They have a strong junior tandem in Zach Martini and Will Soucie and one of the best freshmen in the northeast in Denver Anglin. They thrive in the half-court and may play the most disciplined basketball out anyone in the state of New Jersey. Head coach Mergin Sina is an outstanding coach and you can expect that he will have his guys ready come Saturday. Mulcahy is the perfect person and player to go to battle with. He not only is a very talented player, but he is also a great vocal leader. He and the Knights are a fun team to watch and provide a great reason why you need to get to the Boardwalk Showcase early.

Christian Brothers Academy

Christian Brothers Academy makes its annual return to the Hoop Group Boardwalk Showcase. To no one’s surprise, CBA has yet another talented team this season. They also have a great deal of experience, which is key when playing in big matchups like theirs against Gill St. Bernard’s. The Colts have a strong senior trio in St. Francis (PA) commit Josh Cohen, Liam Kennedy, and Stephen Braunstein. Cohen produces in the paint and continues to build on his skill set. Kennedy controls the tempo for this team and is an impressive playmaker. Braunstein is a great shooter who also has a knack for making big plays down the stretch. It would be foolish to forget about freshman standout Ryan Mabry who also plays a vital role for this team. Gill St. Bernard’s is definitely talented, but they have a tough opponent in Christian Brothers Academy.
