Myles Wilmoth is making a smooth transition on to the prep school scene - Q&A with HG Insider
Class of 2020 forward Myles Wilmoth has been transitioning to the prep school scene this year at St. Andrew’s (RI). Wilmoth is an intriguing prospect with him standing at 6’8”, having the ability to knock down shots on the perimeter and now with added strength being able to finish down low. He spoke to HG Insider on how this season has gone for him.
Q: This is your first year at St. Andrew’s, how has the adjustment been to your new school?
A: “The first thing I had to adjust to was living away from home. I’ve just been getting better every day and more often. I’ve been working on my shot and there is better competition here so going against the best out here has helped me get better.”
Q: What would you say you have improved the most at since last year?
A: “I’ve improved my jump shot, I only hit one last year and now I’m at twenty-five this year. I think I’ve also improved my overall toughness since I’m in the gym more often.”
Q: What do you think is the next step for you?
A: “I just need to be consistent because I’ve had some up and down games this year. When I play to what I do best, I have my best games so that’s been something I’ve been working on.”
Q: What schools are involved in your recruitment?
A: “I have an offer from Saint Joseph’s, they talk to me a lot. UMass, Princeton, Bryant, Siena and more are recruiting me as well.”
Q: I’m sure winning the prep school championship is a big goal that you have in mind. What would it mean to come home with that trophy at the end of the year?
A: “Last year, they lost in the championship so we are trying to win it all. We have the pieces and people are sleeping on how much depth we have. We are just trying to make a statement and win it all because we know we have the talent to.”
