Q&A with VCU commit Ace Baldwin - He breaks down his recent decision with HG Insider
Ace Baldwin made big recruiting news this past weekend when he decided to verbally commit to VCU. The St. Frances Academy (MD) and Team Durant standout is a huge commitment for the Rams and should be an immediate contributor when he gets there next year. He spoke to HG Insider about his commitment.
Q: Why you did you decide on VCU?
A: “I decided VCU because me and my parents thought it was a great fit. They have a good education, a lot of majors I can pick from and they have all the resources I need. Another thing was that it was a home away from home. Its bigger then basketball to them and they really care. My family just loved it, VCU made us happy.”
Q: What schools were you down to?
A: “My final schools were VCU, Seton Hall, Georgetown, Maryland and Clemson.”
Q: What did they say your role would be there?
A: “They said my role will be a starting point guard playing twenty plus minutes. I just have to go get it and take what’s mine.”
Q: What goals do you have for when you get there?
A: “My goal is to lead my team to an A-10 championship and to play and win in the NCAA tournament.”
Q: Why was now the best time to decide for you?
A: “This was the best time because they showed me I was ready to become a Ram. AAU and high school senior year go by fast and me and my parents thought it was time.”
