Class of 2021 point guard Allen Strothers was one of the breakout players from Philly Live 1. Strothers, a standout from Menchville High School (V.A.), was one of the top scoring guards throughout the event. He is definitely a name to keep an eye on and more schools should be calling in the near future. He did a Q&A with Hoop Group Insider.

Q: What’s it like playing in this new environment back with your high school team?

A: “It feels good to be back with my high school team. We are like a family since we have been together for so long so it feels good to be back.”

Q: More people are getting a feel for your game especially with the college coaches in attendance. How would you describe the way you play?

A: “I like to create for my team and I also look for my shot if I have it. If the shot is not there, I kick it out and create for my teammates.”

Q: Who are some of the schools who have extended offers to you thus far?

A: “Elon, Radford, Appalachian State, Old Dominion, Norfolk State, Hampton, Kent State, and Howard.”

Q: What are some of the factors that are going to play the most pivotal role in your decision down the line?

A: “The relationships with the coaches will play the biggest part in my decision.”

Q: Your father had a long professional basketball career with stops in the NBA. He is your head coach at Menchville and you are like another coach for him on the floor. Do you take pride in your high basketball I.Q.?

A: “Yeah, it’s definitely something I take pride in and I get it from him. I have a responsibility on the floor to know where to be for him and the rest of the team.”
