Three prospects who stood out at the CHSAA June Team Camp + Additional Standouts
The CHSAA June Team Camp was a late addition to the June high school live period calendar, but definitely a valuable one. Some players didn’t take the league providing a platform for granted and shined from start to finish. Hoop Group Insider has identified three of the top performers as well as additional standouts.
R.J. Davis – Archbishop Stepinac (2020)
With the number of offers pouring in for him, R.J. Davis had the most buzz out of any prospect coming into the event. The Archbishop Stepinac (N.Y.) point guard knifed through defenses and consistently made shots from deep. Following the event, Davis added offers from Kansas, Texas, and Cal-Berkeley. Davis has now become a national name and is now getting the attention he deserves.
“R.J. is finally getting noticed on a national level and getting the attention he deserves,” said Archbishop Stepinac Head Coach Pat Massaroni. “We have seen this for a couple of years and for whatever reason it took until this spring for the entire nation to see that he is an elite point guard and a top 50 player in the country.”
Anthony Lopez Jr. – St. Francis Prep (2020)
St. Francis Prep (NY) wing Anthony Lopez Jr. broke out on Saturday in a tough matchup against Monsignor Scanlan. Lopez has certain things you can’t teach and one of those things is his athleticism. Lopez showed that off with his play off the bounce as he had a couple of highlight reel finishes. Following the team camp, Lopez picked up his first offer in University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Joe Munden – Monsignor Scanlan (2020)
Monsignor Scanlan (NY) definitely benefited from the team camp as certain players like Joe Munden’s stock took off. Munden was a tough matchup for defenses with his physicality and shooting ability. He played with a lot of toughness on both offense and defense. With a prospect this dynamic, I would expect more schools to get involved with him.
-Hamdel Mohammed – Monsignor Scanlan (2020)
-Luis Kortright – St. Raymond’s (2020)
-Malcolm Chimezie – Archbishop Stepinac (2021)
-Ryan Myers – Christ The King (2020)
-Liam Murphy – St. Peter’s (2020)
