2018 Future All-American All-Star Game Recap
What better way to cap off an amazing summer at Hoop Group than the Future All-American All Star Game. This years game was packed with talent from all over.
The first quarter turned into a dunking contest between big time guys, Jalen Duren (2022, Roman Catholic) and Frank Kepnang(2021, The MacDuffie School). Each player throwing down dunk after dunk going point for point. The second quarter was the turning point for big man play to guard play throwing up a mirage of 3’s. Zion Harmon (2021, Marshall County Central HS) and Dior Johnson (2022) who has faced off earlier this week were eager to show off their shooting ability and they performed. At the half blue would lead white, but not by much.
The second half brought more of what the first quarter showed us, that being the athleticism of all of our all stars being able to throw the ball down with authority. Zion Cruz (2022, Hudson Catholic) showcased some of his jumping ability and turned a lot of heads. The end of this game was decided by a last second three point attempt by Terrance Clarke (2021, Brewster Academy) who in the championship game proved he has the clutch gene. Unfortunately his shot from half court came up short hitting the front of the rim and Blue took the game 88-85. Zion Cruz would lead all scorers with 19 points, followed by Frank Kepnang and Zion Harmon who finished with 18 points and 17 points respectively. There was a lot of talent in this game and these guys are going to be the future of basketball.
