Seton Hall is heading into this college basketball season with a lot of buzz as they are regarded as one of the best teams in the nation in many of the preseason rankings. They don’t plan on slowing down either as they have two commitments for the class of 2020 in Jahari Long and Dimingus Stevens. Long is an intriguing point guard prospect with a knack for getting others involved. He spoke to Hoop Group Insider on what went into his decision to commit to the Pirates in late July.

Q: What went into your decision to commit to Seton Hall?

A: “What went into my decision to choose Seton Hall is the ability to go there and get better as a player. They also have a good business school, which is what I’m interested in. As far as basketball, I’d be able to go there and get better and they said they needed a point guard so I feel like I can fit right in. I also like the idea of playing in the Big East as well.”

Q: What was Kevin Willard’s message to you?

A: “They told me they have been looking for a point guard that can run a team and make his teammates better. Coach Willard told me that I’d be able to come in make my teammates better. He said they want someone who can create for himself and others.”

Q: What intrigued you the most during your unofficial visit?

A: “I like the environment they had during open gym and the living arrangements. Every player has their own space to work academically and work on their game. I really the situation I have there.”

Q: What excites you about the idea of going there next year?

A: “I’m excited at the opportunity of me coming in and getting minutes as a freshman. I know I’m going to have to work for my minutes, but I have confidence in myself that I can make an impact right away. I’m just excited to be a part of their program.”
