ANSWERS!

1. If your son or daughter is looking to work with great coaches to improve their skills, want to play in 3 games a day and our contest (hot shot, one-on-one, free throw), and want to have a fun experience doing it, Pocono Invitational is for them. Camp is open to players of all ages (9-18) and skill levels. Players range from beginner to advanced and are placed on the right level for games.

BACK

2. Call us at (732) 502-2255 and ask for Chris or Adam to help you place your child in the right week. If the camper is looking to improve on specific skills, such as shooting or guard skills, we have Hoop Group Shooting Skills Camps with Dave Hopla and Herb MAgee and Hoop Group PG Skills Weekends featuring Jameer Nelson and Kevin Boyle. We have a week of camp that will best fit your son or daughter and we would love to help you find it.

BACK

3. You can pay for camp by visiting www.hoopgroup.com, finding the Pocono page and visiting our registration page. We take the 3 major credit cards for online payment. You can also pay by calling us at (732) 502-2255 until June 1 and (570) 992-6343 in the summer. Lastly you can mail a registration form and check to 466 Old Hook Rd. Suite 27 Emerson, NJ 07630.

BACK

4. We love having parents attend camp and welcome them onto our campus. Parents can stay locally at a hotel and visit camp as much as they would like during the skill work and game sets.

BACK

5. We can make sure they are put at a table that will not have that item served to them or available. Our certified athletic trainer on staff will know about your child’s food allergy and we can accommodate alternative food options if the camper can’t eat what is served.

BACK

6. If you purchase cancellation insurance when you pay for camp it cost $40. If you pull out of your week at least 10 days prior to camp you receive a full refund of your money. If it is within 10 days you receive a full refund minus a $75 processing fee. Without insurance you will receive a credit to any Hoop Group event good for one year.

BACK

7. Campers must be referred by their coaches. Simply ask your coach to call us and let us know about your son and that Jr. Elite would be the right type of camp for him. It is a highly competitive weekend that features some of the best young players on the east coast.

BACK

8. We pride ourselves on our specialty coaches. Coach Hurley, Coach Boyle, and Jameer Nelson will be at camp daily leading the skill work and watching games. They don’t just show up once a day to “make an appearance,” they lead camp and make themselves available for campers to work with.

BACK

9. We are a traditional style camp. Our 37 cabins are kept up yearly and have 8-10 bunks in each. We have a dining hall where our meals are served family style at a table of 6-8 campers. We have 13 outdoor courts and 2 covered courts that are regulation size and also attended to yearly. There are 3 bathhouses, all newly renovated, where campers have individual showers and stalls to use the bathroom.

BACK

10. A- Check in for 5 day camps is from 1-3 PM on the first day of camp. Check out for these camps is at 1 PM on the last day. We have an awards ceremony to wrap up camp. Parents are invited to come watch the playoffs that morning.
B- Check in for Hoop Group PG Skills Weekends is from 1-3 PM on the first day of camp. Check out is at 11 AM on the last day
C- Check in for Father/Son Weekends is from 5-7 PM on the first day of camp. Check out is at 11 AM on the last day.
D- Check in for Jr Elite Weekends is from 8:30-10 AM on the first day of camp. Check out is at 4 PM on the last day of camp

BACK

11. The only college coaches at camp will be ones that are working as coaches for the camp. Pocono Invitational is a teaching camp and we focus on developing your game. Our college exposure camp is called Eastern Invitational and information can be found on it at our website, www.hoopgroup.com.

BACK

12. Campers will play with players of their age group, at most they will play with one grade above or below in their league. If a player is dominating their division or struggling at their level they could be moved up or down a league so that they are playing on the right skill level.

BACK

13. Since our campers ages are so diverse we make sure our coaching staff is as well. We take experienced, high level coaches from college, high school, middle school and youth basketball to help us run camp. We pride ourselves on the quality of our coaching staff as they are what makes our camp so special.

BACK

14. Absolutely! A majority of our campers come to camp without knowing anyone! A great part of camp is getting to make new friendships through the game of basketball.

BACK

15. If your child is coming with friends all you have to do is tell us who his roommate request is and we will honor it 100% of the time.

BACK

16. There is a bus station in nearby Stroudsburg, PA that is the easiest way to get to camp. They can then take a cab from the station to our camp ground. If they are flying in to an airport then a car service or taxi of some kind would be the most convenient.

BACK

17. We have a certified athletic trainer on camp 24/7 who is well versed in taking care of kids illnesses and injuries as well as managing medicine.

BACK

18. We ask you to check your medicine in with our trainer and let them make sure each kid takes the medicine at meals or as prescribed.

BACK

19. We have early bird workouts to start the morning at 7:15 that are optional and will be more advanced workouts with our best coaches. We have three game sets a day. One before lunch, one after lunch and one after dinner. The camper will play one game and have an hour off during each “set.” We have stations for almost 2 hours every morning right after breakfast where campers develop their skills. During shooting camp this will be all shooting workouts. We have a lecture after lunch featuring a coach or player from college basketball or the NBA. We have one contest a day, three on three, one on one, or hot shot. The finals are played on the last night before the all-star game. Our PG Skills Camps, Parent/Child Weekends and Jr Elite Camps work a little different. For more specifics on those call 732-552-2255.

BACK

20. The oldest kids at Parent/Child Weekends are 8th graders. Some 9th graders come but there isn’t much competition for them in games. We encourage older kids to join us for a full week of camp where they will be challenged to improve their games. The youngest kids are 6 years old.

BACK

21. Campers stay in cabins that have 4 or 5 bunk beds. Each cabin then houses 8-10 kinds. Each camper has their own bed and shelf space. There is one outlet in each bunk.

BACK

22. We have 3 modern bathhouses. They showers are individual, not communal. There are plenty of stalls, sinks and showers for each camper.

BACK

23. We have water fountains surrounding each court. We also have a canteen where campers can buy water and Gatorade. We also serve water during each meal throughout the day. Our coaches will also demand that each player gets a drink as they sub out during games.

BACK

24. We have a checklist page online. Checklist

BACK

25. There is nothing you can use cash for on camp grounds so you do not need cash at camp. All money should be put on your canteen card before camp so it can not be lost or stolen.
