Little Dribblers Basketball Basics - How Does it Work?
The Little Dribblers Basketball Basics Program is structured to the abilities of the young players that participate. Players shoot and play on 8' baskets rather than the regulation 10' baskets so that players can reach the goal and make shots. This also prevents young players from developing poor shooting habits. Instructors also use undersized basketballs (10") while teaching shooting form and mechanics so that young players can learn the proper fundamentals of how to shoot and release the basketball.
Each Little Dribblers Basketball Basics workout ends with a controlled scrimmage with all of the players participating. The controlled scrimmage is played in a 4 vs. 4 format with the instructor serving as the "automatic" point guard for both teams. In this manner, the instructor guarantees that each player touches the ball and gets some shots during the scrimmage. The instructor also makes sure each player plays defense against the correct player since double-teams are not allowed.
